Newsletter 12/2023

Published 14th of December 2023

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

What a blessing this year has been! Witnessing youth work in different parts of the world and rejoicing about being able to organize events and meeting people face-to-face once again. We pray that God can continue to work through us with the people around us.

This year, the Unity Youth Committee was present at the Unity Synod in Cape Town this September and was part of many discussions and decision-making. More about that will be further down in this newsletter.

If there is anything we can pray for, please let us know.

If any youth events are happening where you live, please share some pictures with us through email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or through Facebook.
If you are not subscribed to this newsletter and would like to, please fill out this page.

Blessings,

UNITY YOUTH LEADER ZOOM CALLS
The Unity Youth Committee has continued organizing its Unity Youth Leader Zoom Calls, where we meet across the continents and discuss current topics. This year's highlight was a presentation from Sr. Sylvie, who works for the Board of World Mission, about the power of communication and social media in BWM's work.
If you have any topic in mind that we can cover in the next call or know someone who could present a topic in the call, feel free to reach out to us! :)

CAMP CHETEK AT MOUNT MORRIS IN WISCONSIN, USA
I joined the staff at Camp Chetek this year. This camp for Senior high and college students was a journey centred around the theme of "The Amazing Grace." About 40 campers came together for one week to explore faith, engage in meaningful discussions, enjoy games, and take moments for self-reflection. The time was filled with songs, collective support for several mission projects, and a challenging "Amazing Race" experience. The theme, carefully chosen by the Regional Youth Council (RYC), encouraged everyone to ponder their faith journeys. We contemplated where to begin, the spiritual finish line, and how to stay spiritually fit as we navigate life's challenges. We can see how summer camps, even if only for a week each year, can have a profound impact on a young person's life.

UNITY SYNOD 2023 IN CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA
The UYC was represented at the Unity Synod by its member, Br. David William Daniels, and the Youth Desk Coordinator, Sr. Jiřina Kaletová. It was a unique experience to be at the Synod, to talk about issues that the Unity is dealing with and to meet new people. One of the items on the agenda was the election of the new UYC members who will start in the position in 2024 for the next synodal period. We ask for your prayers for these new members in this position. Also, if you work with the youth, we would be happy if they could connect with the youth leaders in their respective regions.

CONTACT DATABASE
We are looking into creating a database of options, possibilities and contacts. The Unity is so big, and there are many places where you can learn from others and share. Maybe you have an interesting Bible study program or a summer camp topic you do not want to be forgotten and would like to share with others. Or perhaps you are looking for ideas for Bible study and summer camps. We know youth groups are interested in visiting and hosting other youth groups. This might apply to youth leaders as well. Maybe your Province is looking for a volunteer, or you are interested in volunteering somewhere. We want to create a contact list with these possibilities and connect you with others if you are interested. Does any of this speak to you? You can fill out this short survey and write what you are looking for, and we'll reach out to you when something comes up.
Fill out the survey HERE.
